Engagements

No two client situations are ever exactly alike. The following are examples of the kinds of engagements BlackCreek has taken on — each one different in its specifics, but united by the same approach: meet the organization where it is, understand the real challenge, and build a clear path forward.

International Non-Profit Organization

When a long-established international non-profit found itself in the middle of a troubled leadership transition — moving from its founder to its first generation of hired management — the board knew they needed experienced outside help. Bob joined the board to assist with the transition, and when it became clear the organization was at risk of being left without functional leadership, the board asked him to step in as interim CEO.
Bob stabilized relationships with key constituents, provided the board with a clear and actionable path forward, and helped guide the successful installation of a permanent CEO. He then transitioned into a part-time COO role to support continued momentum through the handoff. The organization emerged from a period of significant uncertainty with renewed stability — and a stronger foundation for long-term succession planning.

National Non-Profit Organization

When a national non-profit unexpectedly lost its accountant and couldn’t find a replacement, the organization’s financial records came to a complete standstill. By the time Bob stepped in, no accounting entries had been made in four months — a gap that included a full fiscal year-end.
Bob methodically reconstructed the missing transactions, prepared the financial information needed for the organization’s tax filing, and built clear, board-ready financial statements that leadership could actually use to manage the organization. He then documented systems and procedures, trained staff, and helped recruit and onboard a qualified successor accountant — leaving the organization in meaningfully better shape than before the disruption began.

Service Company

A service company was navigating a period of genuine financial stress — the kind that doesn’t wait for a convenient moment and quickly outpaces what any management team can handle while keeping daily operations running.
Bob was brought in to prepare a comprehensive refinancing proposal and guide the initial conversations with a potential replacement lender. The approach was methodical: assess the situation clearly, build a compelling case, and present it with confidence. By the time the plan was complete and lender conversations were underway, the management team felt fully equipped to carry the refinancing process through on their own — which was exactly the goal.

Manufacturing Company

A job-shop manufacturing company was facing pressure on two fronts: its incumbent bank was requesting full repayment, and the recent loss of its accountant had left the company without complete or reliable financial statements.
Bob stepped in to rebuild an accurate, comprehensive financial picture of the business — one strong enough to support lender conversations and clear enough to help management run the company with greater confidence. Processes and procedures were documented, financial statements were revised and corrected, and the management team was trained to input the right information and produce their own financials going forward. When the engagement concluded, the company had both the tools and the confidence to manage its own financial story independently.

The BlackCreek Approach

In every engagement, the starting point is the same: meet the organization exactly where it is. No judgment, no assumptions — just an honest assessment of the situation and a practical, step-by-step path toward where it wants to be.
That’s the BlackCreek way.
